AWNA TEIXEIRA plays old-time mountain music and accordion-driven folk. Well known for her work with Po’ Girl, Teixeira has released several solo discs and is hitting the never-ending road, a boundless source of inspiration. After cutting her teeth in various Canadian outfits, Teixeira hooked up with Po’ Girl, one of Vancouver’s most loved roots bands, and began touring internationally, with Teixeira initially on electric and gutbucket bass, then stretching out on guitar, banjo, ukulele, keys, accordion, glockenspiel, harmonica and percussion, in addition to songwriting, arranging and producing. After a decade and 5 albums with Po’ Girl, Teixeira began touring heavily as a solo act, utilizing all her musical influences and varied instruments, and releasing a number of roots-heavy records.
Presented in collaboration with Occasional Music.
