Chipper Thompson

Opening for Rory Block in Santa Fe is Taos musician Chipper Thompson, who recently released his sixth album, O How I Wish My Bad Heart Was True, an original collection of rockers, sleepers and Appalachian creepers. The Alabama native is no stranger to Southwest Roots Music (he’s appeared on Southwest Roots Music stages solo, in a Celto-Appalachian duo with Mason Brown, with Taos band Bone Orchard, as a member of power trio Stray Ravens, and with his own band The Feast), but it’s been three years since we’ve witnessed firsthand his songwriting, singing, and instrumental skill on guitar, mandolin, bass, and bottleneck slide bouzouki. A true renaissance man, he has recorded six albums of original and traditional music and authored two books. Thompson shows his visual art at Santa Fe’s Gerald Peters Gallery.
