AWNA TEIXEIRA plays old-time mountain music and accordion-driven folk. Best known for her work with Po’ Girl, Teixeira has released two solo discs and is hitting the road on a co-bill with her friends in Whippoorwill. After cutting her teeth in various Canadian outfits, Teixeira hooked up with Po’ Girl, one of Vancouver’s most loved roots bands, and began touring internationally, with Teixeira initially on electric and gutbucket bass, then stretching out on guitar, banjo, ukulele, keys, accordion, glockenspiel, harmonica and percussion, in addition to songwriting, arranging and producing. After a decade and 5 albums with Po’ Girl, Teixeira has been touring heavily as a solo act, utilizing all her musical influences and varied instruments.

WHIPPOORWILL’S Alysia Kraft was raised on a family-owned Wyoming cattle ranch, Staci Foster alongside the rivers of the Texas Hill Country. Foster and Kraft met by chance at a porch picking party at SXSW 2013. The two exchanged songs throughout the night before parting for separate tours, later naming themselves “Whippoorwill” for the bird cooing through the pauses in song on the night of their meeting. In 2016, Foster and Kraft put other musical projects on the backburner and worked as ranch hands while pre-producing Good to Be Around.  Their debut contains 6 stick-to-heart tracks that earned them regional nominations for Wyoming Public Radio and the Colorado Playlist’s Best Albums of the Year. Culture Trip named them to the female edition of 50 Musicians You Need to Know from Each State and MYCounty 95.5 called them a Top Ten Act to Watch in 2017.  Tobias Bank joined the band in November 2016 on drums, bringing depth to the rhythm section and adding third part harmonies. Whippoorwill has shared sold-out stages with Colin Hay, Lydia Loveless, and Old Crow Medicine show.
